Keeneland Concours d’Elegance commits to sponsoring pediatric simulators for Kentucky Children's Hospital

For doctors in training, practicing on pediatric patients can be challenging. But with new simulators the Keeneland Concours d'Elegance has committed to support, that's going to change for medical students and healthcare professionals at Kentucky Children's Hospital.
These pediatric simulators - an infant, a one year-old and a five-year-old - from Gaumaud® provide an extremely life-like experience for physicians, nurses and therapists to practice difficult procedures.
"With these simulators we are able to simulate emergencies from newborn up to five years old," said Dr. Erich Maul, director of pediatric simulation at KCH. "It will enhance the training of medical students and future doctors in the commonwealth."
In fact, some of the medical-school curriculum may be redesigned to take advantage of the simulators.
"The third-year students will be doing more simulations and more education on the finer points of how to resuscitate children, how to recognize sick kids and have the confidence to go out in the real world and take good care of these kids," said Dr. Maul.

Kentucky Children's Hospital has been the beneficiary of the Keeneland Concours since the first event in 2004.
