I learned to love cars from my Dad by scrubbing whitewalls. I fed my love of cars and racing with magazines and my friends’ cars. While in the Navy stationed in San Francisco I even saw NHRA’s 1971 Northern Nationals.
As a graphic designer, I continued to be fascinated with cars. Friendships with fellow gear heads put me to work designing graphics for race cars and crew at NHRA’s US Nationals.
Moving to Nicholasville in 1999 was a reboot in my life and a new focus, my 2001 Mazda Miata. My involvement with the Lexington Miata Power Lunch Group led me to the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance. First as a Concours Judge. Quickly my assignments escalated to event advertising and the KCdE’s program design.
For me, the Concours is a childhood dream come true, but it is a lot of work. When it gets tough, it is always our support for the Kentucky Children’s Hospital that makes it easier and the hours shorter.
